THE CAMP EXPERIENCE
The camp and agriturismo in Umbria is located near the town of Panicale, an ideal central location for families to enjoy the major sites in Umbria and many in nearby Tuscany, including Perugia, Lake Trasimeno, Cortona, Assisi, Todi and Orvieto, and many other charming hilltowns, vineyards, and castles in between. From the pre-Raphaelite art of Perugino, found throughout the area, to the truffles, regional wines, locally produced olive oil, and Etruscan treasures, Umbria is a cultural feast for families.
Families traveling to Umbria and Tuscany can enjoy an Art and Soccer program for ages 6-12, through Art AL Sole's expertly crafted art and sports curriculum that families have grown to love. The young artists will immerse themselves in Etruscan culture, art and Italian culture while our soccer players will be trained by an Italian professional coach. This soccer camps is for beginners to advanced players – promising fun and new skills for everyone!
Together, all of the kids will explore Etruscan culture – learn to cook some typical Umbrian delights & follow a truffle hunter & his dogs thru the countryside! During this week of adventure, each morning all of the campers will set out on art exploration — as protagonists of ancient history: they’ll take inspiration from the surrounding nature, examine the archaeological record, make their own urns, and learning about country life in the Umbrian countryside. Each afternoon, the soccer stars will get lessons from an Italian professional coach!
Arte Al Sole's critical inquiry approach to visual arts and culture encourages children to draw their own conclusions about the function of these patterns as expressions of the societies that produced them during a week of hands-on fun and wonderment. Most of all, they will meet great international friends and experience the benefits of self-growth through travel and community.
Camp is from 9:30-15:30 Mon-Friday; Friday ends at 13:00 followed by a parent show/reception.

CAMP LOCATION - AT THE AGRITURISMO COLLE SAN PAOLO!
The camp and agriturismo location are on the same estate! The logistics of getting to camp each day are a walk to the meeting point. The agritursimo is Colle San Paolo an agricultural estate/working farm or “agriturisimo” immersed in the verdant and hilly Umbrian countryside, near the charming hilltown of Panicale, Lake Trasimeno, and half-way between Florence (to the north) and Rome (to the South), near many characteristic hamlets and important art cities, both in Umbria and in Tuscany. On the estate, you will have opportunities to eat and drink from the farm itself!
This family-run organic estate is made up of 130 hectares of pristine landscape on the green hills surrounding Lake Trasimeno: streams, oak woods (80 hectares), centuries-old olive groves and cultivated fields. There are about 2.000 olive trees, 250 of which are more than 150 years old and are used to produce extra-virgin organic olive oil.
The camp base is located in the Fontanelle casale of Casali di Colle San Paolo, a beautifully restored farmhouse overlooking Lake Trasimeno, children will set out on adventures through time and space on this enchanting olive estate nestled in rolling hills and roads that meander through creeks and oak woods.

There are paths for walking, trekking and jogging on our property and in the area. We will be happy to show them to you. “Arte al Sole was one of the best family trips we have ever taken (and we have traveled extensively with our kids). Our kids also agreed that this was an amazing week filled with great art, culture, superb food and wine (for the parents, of course!). We were able to meet families from all over the world. The best part was that as parents we had ‘adult time’ to do the things we were interested in while the kids had fun exploring all types of art and culture (from hands on art projects to visiting castles and even a traditional chocolate factory). The week was nothing but fun!”
“We loved the week in Umbria so much. The location is so special and feels much less touristy. For us that made it extra special. We had such a wonderful experience with Arte al Sole. We spent an unforgettable week in Umbria with our 5 and 7 year olds. They had a fabulous time at camp. Then we continued to Lucca where we had another amazing week of Arte al Sole. Shannon and Shannon were so warm and nurturing with our children and also had so many fun ideas for us. We can’t say enough great things about Arte al Sole. It really was a highlight of our two month trip away in Europe.”
We had our most favorite and memorable family trips in Italy by doing camps with Arte Al Sole. We went two years in a row to Lucca and Amalfi camps and words cannot express how happy everyone was. It was one of those vacations where everyone wins! Camp, culture, meeting international families, wine tasting, cooking classes when the kids were in camp and all of the intensely wonderful food from Italy.
“We absolutely loved our week in Umbria at I Casali di Colle San Paolo! Our boys did Soccer al Sole, while my husband and I either played in the pool or visited nearby towns with our daughters. The soccer camp and Italian lessons were wonderful, so well organized and really engaging for the kids. Sabina was wonderful and arranged child care for us on several occasions. The location of I Casali is idyllic, nestled in the Umbrian hills between fields of sunflowers and olive groves. We could not have wished for anything more. This family trip will remain one of our most memorable.”
